Nestled in the heart of Chittagong city, the Zia Memorial Museum stands as a living testament to the enduring legacy of Ziaur Rahman, the seventh President of Bangladesh. Originally the Chittagong Circuit House, constructed by the British government in 1913, the museum now meticulously preserves the memories of President Rahman, who tragically lost his life in a military coup on May 30, 1981, during his stay at the Circuit House.

In response to the unfortunate event, a government proposal in June 1981 aimed to convert the Circuit House into a museum, which came to fruition on September 6, 1993. Formally known as the President Bir Uttam Ziaur Rahman Memorial Museum, it houses over a thousand physical features across 17 galleries. The museum's poignant journey begins with the role of Ziaur Rahman before the liberation war, unfolding through galleries dedicated to the war itself, and the activities and life stories of the President.

The museum is a captivating blend of history and personal artifacts, showcasing everything from radio broadcasting memories to Ziaur Rahman's military uniform, bags, and hats. Gallery Sixteen, a solemn space, bears witness to the tragic events of May 30, 1981, as it displays the room where President Rahman accepted martyrdom. The Zia Memorial Museum is not merely a collection of artifacts but a narrative woven with courage, tragedy, and the indelible mark left by a statesman on the history of Bangladesh.
