Kishoregonj is a district under Dhaka division located in the central part of Bangladesh. The geographical area of this region is about 2,688 sq km. There are 13 sub-districts in this area. The district is bounded by Mymensingh, Netrokona, Narshingdi, Brahmanbaria, Sunamganj, and Habiganj.
This district has a prominent heritage in folk literature. The ancient tradition of folklore culture has brightened the character of this district.

At the end of the eighteenth century, the Kishoreganj area was popularly known as "Katakhali". It is assumed from the opinion of the local people that Kishoreganj was named after the landlord of this area Nanda Kishor Pramanik. The region was born as an administrative unit in 1860 as a sub-district. It got the status of a district in 1984.
Kishoreganj's prime heritage is Sholakia Eidgah, Asia's largest Muslim Eid festival prayer ground with an area of 6.61 acres. About two hundred thousand religious worshipers perform Eid prayer in this Eidgah.

Historical Jungle Bari: Isha Khan's second capital: The administrator of the Mughal emperor Isha Khan established his second capital in the Jangalbari area. The ruins carry the signs of medieval Muslim architecture. There is a mosque with three domes, a Darbar house, and a trench has been found in this remnant that boasts bright memories of the past.
Haor (back swamp) area: The scenes of the Haor area of Itna, Mithamain, and Ashtagram sub-districts, especially in the rainy season, are fascinating. These are also a great attraction for the tourists.
Some other interesting places of this district are – Egaro Sindur Fort, Pagla mosque, and Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge.
