Tourist Attractions in Netrakona
Netrokona is a border district located in northern Bangladesh under the Mymensingh division. Bordering Meghalaya of India on the north, the district is surrounded by Mymensingh, Sunamganj, and Kishoreganj.
Netrokona was a part of the greater Mymensingh district. It was once known as Kaliganj. At 7-8 km northwest of the city, the first survey was conducted at a place called Natarkona. Later the subdivision headquarters were established in Natatkona. The name Natarkona was later converted to Netrokona.
In the fourth century AD, this region was under the rule of Guptas. At the end of the thirteenth century, a Muslim ruler attacked the eastern Mymensingh region and established Muslim rule for a short time. During the reign of Alauddin Hussein Shah (1493-1519), the entire Mymensingh region was included in the Muslim kingdom at the end of the fifteenth century. Netrokona was declared a subdivision of Mymensingh in 1880 during British rule. The subdivision was declared a district on 17 January 1984.
The district is a land of natural beauty. The Garo hill and the rivers at the foot of this mighty hill create a stunning view that attracts everyone. Recently this region has become an attractive tourist spot of Bangladesh.

China Clay Hill: This hill is located in Durgapur. It is one of the biggest China clay minerals in Bangladesh. This mineral region is about 15.5 kilometers long, and 600 meters spread wide across the small hills and plain land.
Someswari River: This river is one of the most picturesque places in Bangladesh. Originating from the Garo Hills of India, the Someswari River has entered Bangladesh through Bijoypur of Netrokona.
Some other attractions of this district are Kamala Rani Pond, the tomb of Hazrat Shah Sultan Kamar Uddin Rumi (R), Home and memorials of comrade Moni Singh.
