Bangabandhu Bridge is the longest bridge in Bangladesh. It was the longest in South Asia and the 11th longest bridge in the world when inaugurated. It was inaugurated in June 1998.
The bridge is located in Shijarajgonj district. It is on the Jamuna River, which is one of the largest rivers in Bangladesh. In terms of water emissions, it is the 5th largest river in the world. The bridge was named after the father of the nation - Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The Bangabandhu Bridge has connected and assembled the eastern and the western parts of Bangladesh. The people of the whole country have been benefited by this bridge.
