Tanguar Haor
If you want to enjoy the natural beauty of Bangladesh, you can go to Tanguar Haor in Sunamganj. This is the second 'Ramsar' site in Bangladesh, which is located near the border of India. The location of Tanguar Haor is in Tahirpur and Dharmapasha Upazila of Sunamganj.
There are 120 small and large beels. These beels are the sanctuaries of migratory birds and fish. In the rainy season, the haor is fully covered with water everywhere. But in winter the water reduces. There are more than 140 species of freshwater fish in this haor. Fishing is the main livelihood for the people of this haor area.
There is a huge gathering of birds here from the beginning of winter to the end. Most of the birds are seen in February. Every year about 200 species of migratory birds come here. Besides, there are 208 species of birds, 150 species of aquatic plants, 34 species of reptiles and 11 species of amphibians living in the haor.
There are more than 200 kinds of trees in Tanguar haor. Among those Nolkhagra, Dudhilata, Nil shapla, Pani faal, Shola, Helancha, Sataguli, Shital Pati, Goldsmith, Bantulasi, etc are notable.
If you want to go through the haor area, there are many local children, who can move you on the haor area by their boat. They show tourists the haor area. There is a watchtower in the haor. You may also watch the total haor area by the watchtower and also take a bath in transparent water under the watchtower.
