MAG Osmani Museum
The MAG Osmani Museum was established on the bank of Dhopa dighi in Sylhet city to commemorate the contribution of Major General A G Osmani in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. The museum was formally started on March 04, 1987. This is a rest house on 2 bighas of land, which is made of bamboo. This house contains the memory of M A G Osmani. The open balcony behind the house has made the museum interesting.
General Osmani's family home Noor Manzil is today's Osmani Museum. This museum plays a special role in knowing about the person, the warrior, and the political leader Osmani. Various materials were used by Osmani, many documents of the Liberation War, few rare pictures and paintings are kept here to exhibit.
In the first gallery, there is a painting of Osmani's young age. There is also a table, a few chairs, a showcase, a book, two briefcases, and their used clothes, and shocks arranged in this gallery. In the showcase, gifts from the state and various organizations, what he received are displayed. In the second gallery, there are Independence Day honorary awards, 12 gift items, eight medals, etc. are displayed. Osmani's passport and personal badges are also displayed there. There are also a few large photographs of the liberation war. There is a large map of Bangladesh in the third gallery. There is also a certificate, a photograph, a bed, an almirah, a dining table, a black hat, and a prayer mat.
The museum can be visited every day from 9 am to 6 pm and Friday afternoon from 3 pm to 8 pm without any fee.
