Ratargul Swamp Forest
Ratargul Swamp Forest is one of 22 swamp forests in the world. The eye-catching beauty of this forest attracts visitors from all the corners of the country. It is located in Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet. A lot of tourists come to Sylhet to enjoy the beauty of the forest.
Ratargul Swamp Forest is the only Fresh Water Swamp Forest in our country. It is about 26 kilometers away from Sylhet city. This lovely forest may be compared to the Amazon. It is also known as the world's biggest freshwater swamp forest.
According to the forest department, the size of this forest is 3,325.61 acres. 504 acres of this forest was declared as a wild animal sanctuary in 1973. There are about 25 species of hybrid plants in this forest. Although this is mainly a natural forest, the forest department of Bangladesh has planted water-tolerant plants of cane, Kadam, Hegel, mortars, and various species of trees as well. Among the snakes, this forest is a habitat for many different species of poisonous and non-poisonous snakes. In the rainy season, when the water enters the forest, these snakes get up on the trees.
In the forest, various species of wild animals like tigers, squirrels, Monkeys, Eggs, and many other animals are found. There are also many species of birds in the forest. The natural scenery of this swamp forest is rare.

How to Go
From Dhaka, you need to get a bus or train to go to Sylhet city first. From Sylhet, you can take a CNG or other private transport to go to Gowain Ghat. With a CNG, it may take you around 3 hours to reach there. Then you need to reserve an engine boat (trawler) to go to Ratargul Swamp Forest.
